Himachal Pradesh, situated in Western Himalayan region, boasts of spectacular snowy peaks and breathtaking river valleys. It is now being promoted as ‘A destination for all Reasons & all Seasons’. It is a destination that welcomes adventure seekers who enjoy trekking and climbing to rafting, paragliding and skiing. Our road trip begins in Delhi, and we visit the Pinjore gardens en-route to Shimla, the summer capital of India during British Raj. We explore Shimla and the snow bound Kufri before proceeding to Manali via Kullu. Manali is a lovely township nestled in the picturesque Beas River valley, that offers breathtaking view of the Northern Himalayan ranges.
DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1:
Your journey to the ‘Abode of Gods’ starts in Delhi. We start early in morning and drive to Shimla (350kms, 8 hours). En-route we visit Pinjore Garden: Yadavindra Gardens, also known as Pinjore Gardens, is a historic 17th century garden located in Pinjore city of Panchkula district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is an example of the Mughal Gardens architectural style, which was renovated by the Patiala Dynasty Jat Sikh Rulers. Shimla, the former summer capital of British India, is set amidst the snow capped Shivalik Mountains. On arrival at Shimla check in at the hotel. Overnight in Shimla.
DAY 2 :
After breakfast proceed for local sightseeing in Shimla, visit Kufri: beautifully tucked at an altitude of 2,622 meter. The place is a tourist hotspot for its awesome scenic and sports activities. Evening is free to enjoy the famous shopping place on the Mall and the Ridge. This large open space in the heart of town presents excellent views of the mountain ranges. The neo- gothic structure of Christ Church and the neo - Tudor library building are worth seeing. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 3:
After breakfast we leave for Manali (260 km, 6-7 hours). This is one of the most popular and scenic Tourist routes in Himachal Pradesh. On the way there are several sight-seeing places like Sundernagar lake, Mandi, Pandoh dam, Vaishno Devi temple (this temple is constructed by the side of Beas river in the style of Vaishno Devi temple near Jammu). Overnight stay in Manali.
DAY 4:
After breakfast we travel from Manali to snow point (Rohtang Pass) and on the way back from snow point visit Solang Valley. The scenic places to be visited are: Nehru Kund, Kothi, Rahala Fall, Marhi, Rani Nallah, Rohtang Pass. Solang Valley, 14 km from Manali, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh. A favourite destination for adventure enthusiasts it offers parachuting to paragliding, horse riding to driving mini-open jeeps (available for tourists of all age groups). Overnight in Manali.
DAY 5:
Today we shall enjoy the local sightseeing in Manali: Hadimba Temple, built in 1553 with a superbly crafted four tiered pagoda roof, it is famous for its exquisitely carved doorway. The Club House with its comprehensive facilities that include a roller skating rink, an auditorium, billiards rooms, library, bar and restaurant makes a wonderful outing for the day. Tibetan Monastery, Van Vihar, and Vashist: known for its hot springs. There are old temples dedicated to the sage Vashisth and Lord Rama. Overnight in Manali.
DAY 6:
After breakfast we leave for Delhi (drop at Railway station/Airport to catch onward train/flight)
